Julie was raised in Austin, Texas and performed and studied clarinet performance in Dallas, Chicago and Berlin. She is Assistant Adjunct Professor and Events Manager at Austin Community College, where she teaches a large studio of music majors, an intergenerational full clarinet choir and runs all Music Department events. A specialist in chamber music and teaching fundamentals, Julie hold degrees in Clarinet Performance from the University of North Texas (BM) and DePaul University of Chicago (MM).
In 2008 Julie, like many other performers and athletes had a injury that affected her ability to play. During that time she became a committed teacher and now teaches all ages of students and backgrounds with a particular emphasis on beginners and incorporating trauma informed teaching practices. Ms. Linder’s teaching philosophy is centered around what she feels are the fundamental aspects of musicianship including healthy mechanics of playing, continual refinement of technique, creative expression and serving as an active and positive steward of the music community.
Along with teaching responsibilities, Julie is an active performer. She can be heard performing with the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra, the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Orchestra and chamber music with Austin Community College colleagues.
Julie is a BEHN, D’Addario Woodwind and Selmer Paris Artist. She plays on Selmer Privilege clarinets.
